It Started With JUST A Snare Drum

A few years back, I was looking for an additional snare drum. I ran across RCI when I was looking up Vistalites on the web. I called RCI and talked to Romano. He said he could give me a great price on a 61/2×14 and ship it free if I bought a case. I knew then he was someone I could deal with. I recieved the drum in a short time, put it in my kit and fell in love. So crisp and sensitive and LOUD!
A few years later after an ocasional call from time to time, I was really interested in a full kit since I had a Vistalite kit from 73–77, I asked about aquiring a full kit. Finally the Jan 08’, Romano gave me a “killer” price I couldn’t refuse and now she sits in my basement. One of my best investments. I have been to many, many clinics in the midwest here as well as TX & CA. Heard many top end kits by some of the best drummers. NONTHING comes close to my kit. I went with clear to go with anything. I went with 8,10,12 & 14 toms all 10” deep and a 6 ” tom 12” deep and a 16×18 all rack mounted floating on Omni mounts or Gauger mounts. Even the snare floats off my rack to not interfear with my pedals. The bass drum is 22×22 with no mounts and no hole in the front head.. Everything is wide open with Evans EC2 heads on the tops of the 6, 14 & 16 with a EC1 on the bottom of the 16. My bass drum has a Aqurian Super Kick II on it that Romano recommended that BLASTS! The sound and impact is unbelievable.
As a kid growing up in the 60s, I was influenced by B.Rich, G.Kroupa & L.Bellison since my father was a jazz musician. After he died in 69, I turned to Bonham. In 1970 I started lessons and was turned onto B.Cobham, M.N.Waldon & L.White. Now as an old man, I am into D.Carey, T.Lang, M.Portnoy & T.Bozzio among many other drummers…....Aronoff, Donati, Gadd ect. I love the high end Ziljians and Paiste cymbals, Pearl racks and hardware and DW pedals & Promark sticks. But most of all, The RCI drums. My custom built 4 ply maple sits and collects dust. So rock on my RCI brothers and sisters and long live RCI.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

A note from Steve K,
My 16" is a 16 x 16, not a 16 x 18.
I wrote this review without the aid of my reading glasses.
My apologise.
Anybody who has not had the privilige to play such a great sounding, beutiful mastercrafted set of drums.......
I recommend, please do. It is a life changing expirience.
Not only that, but the RCI Family worldwide is the best people on the earth. Romano is GOD, and has a heart of gold. He is always there willing to talk to you, no matter how busy he is.
Thanks again,
Steve
