At the Jazz Cafe, Reading.

At the Jazz Cafe, Reading. Another view My full kit with white custom Paiste cymbals Jamming out some toone. A proud RCI endorser.

I've been playing for over 20 years, and gigging for most of those.

I currently have 9 kits, inc. one hybrid electronic set with over 70 snare drums and about 100 or so cymbals. I have some wonderful rare modern snares, a beautiful vintage Slingerland kit and my awesome navy blue starlight RCI set. Way too much really, but what the hell...

My RCI kit is one of the most fun kits I've played and one of the best sounding. I asked RCI if they would make me 10x6 and 12x6 mounted toms as I'd wanted those sizes for a while. They react quickly, are very bright and are flexible enough tuning-wise to go from high to low tensions without sounding mushy.

The floor tom is a 14x14 which reflects my preference for smaller drums. Like the mounted toms, the floor tom speaks quickly and can be tuned up or down.

The 20x20 bass drum - which is mounted on a Gibraltar riser - is the longest kick drum I've owned or played. Although I originally wanted a 20x18, the extra 2 inches do make a difference to the sound and it has a lovely deep boom and an obvious rounded resonance.

The toms have coated Remo Emperors on the tops and snare side clear Ambassadors (extra thin). The bass drum has a coated Remo Powersonic on the batter side and a Smooth White Powerstroke 3 (no hole) or a ported coated Emperor on the front.

Thanks to everyone at RCI for a great kit and drums I enjoy playing every time I sit behind them.

Hey Dave!!! Very very nice kit!! All that's missing is the RCI logo!! The things that I am most proud of with my kit is the sound and the RCI logo's. Check with Adam Barnes he should be able to aim you in the direction of a head with a Logo. It's important to let everyone who see's your awesome kit know right away that it's an RCI kit. Thanks!!! JohnnyC P.S. Cymbals look freaking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi mate,

Can you e-mail some photos to me of you playing your RCI drums please? They'll be added to the RCI UK MySpace site for all to be jealous of :-)

It's our live performance of "Songbird in the Rain" filmed at "Sunday for Sammy 2008" at Newcastle City Hall! Awesome!

Cheers,
Adam.

P.S. - That's Ray Laidlaw's (from Lindisfarne) kit we were all sharing for the night
